Christian Schools of Springfield (CSOS), has been striving for excellence in the education of students in southwest Missouri since 1963. Through many avenues, CSOS is reaching out to the parents of southwest Missouri who are looking for a caring, Christian environment for their child to develop the skills needed to achieve their highest potential.
Kindergarten Graduation 1964
Set on Springfield's north side, CSOS began with kindergarten, adding grades every year until the fall of 1971. The first senior class graduated in 1972. Since that time, most of our graduates have gone on to institutions of higher learning, including: Harvard, Missouri State University, Drury, BBC, CBC, the Air Force Academy, to name a few. The school is a ministry of Baptist Temple where Dr. Mark Rounsaville serves as senior pastor. Some of the more notable CSOS graduates include: KY-3 anchorperson Lisa Rose, Representative Bob Dixon and Former Representative Brad Roark. We are proud to be able to name among the graduates of Christian Schools of Springfield missionaries, preachers, song leaders, teachers (Christian and public schools), doctors, dentists, school principals (Christian and public), political leaders, lawyers, entrepenurers, and homemakers serving the Lord and making a difference with their lives. These graduates are accomplishing the mission of CSOS. CSOS is currently seeking accreditation with the AACS (American Association of Christian Schools). The rigorous requirements are bringing every facet of our program under careful evaluation. Every aspect must be carefully assessed including faculty, facilities (large enough to accomodate over 400 students in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade) and cirriculum, as well as policies and manuals of operation. We excited about the changes that will come as we work through this process. And are cofident that the AACS accreditation will enhance our program. Our teacing staff has already been certified and we are now preparing for our first physical inspection. Although the accreditation process is very thorough and requires extra time of many of our staff and administration, we are committed to achieving this very important goal as quickly as possible.
